The State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated this new institute on Thursday (June 13). The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor of BUET Professor Dr. Satya Prasad Majumder. Meanwhile, a robot made by BUET students - Roboseba - greeted the guests with roses. During the reception, the minister of state asked the robot, how are you, little robot! Can you speak Bengali? Then the present inventors said that they have made another robot, which can understand and speak Bengali.

Information and Communication Technology Department Secretary Md. Shamsul Arefin and BUET ProVice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Jabbar Khan and others were present on the occasion. The guests visited various activities and innovative technologies of the department. Enjoyed the robotic dance of the robots made by the country's young inventors.
Earlier in the opening speech, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the government has taken an initiative to set up a Nano Lab at BUET at a cost of 100 crores taka to increase the scope of research on Nano technology. He commented that if you want to teach the robot Bengali or other languages, it will be able to interact with people only if Open AI and ChatGPT are added.
He said that tenders have already been called for the implementation of the Nano lab establishment project. Work will start soon. From restaurant waiters to industrial production — the use of robots is on the rise. Bangladesh also does not want to be left behind. Along with robotics, the government is giving special importance to Nano technology. As a part of that, Nano Lab is being set up at BUET, said the minister.

While speaking as the chief guest, he also said that the Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser has instructed us to provide whatever cooperation is required in undertaking any initiative in these four fields, starting from Robotics in BUET, Cyber Security, Microchip Designing, AI. Our small robotics lab is now the Robotics Institute. Future robotics inventors, researchers, startups will be created from here. At the same time, we can develop manpower skilled in robotics from here.
Stating that our mobile phone import has decreased due to the duty free facilities provided by the government, the state minister said that the government has kept duty free facilities for the development of information technology sector. As a result, the information technology sector has developed in the country and now a large supply of technology products has become possible in the country. The government will provide more support for the development of this sector. If the students work on any new and groundbreaking initiative or innovation, the government will help it.

He also said that Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Jai has directed to create skilled manpower and workers in the four frontier technologies of robotics, microchip designing, AI, and cyber security. Smart Bangladesh will be led by those who will be skilled and qualified in artificial intelligence, robotics, microchip and cyber security in the future smart world. In the future, nothing can exist outside of our technology.
Speaking as the President, the Vice-Chancellor of BUET Dr. Satya Prasad Majumder said, BUET's Robotics Institute will work to meet the needs of Bangladesh's robots in the coming days. He also hoped that the students of BUET will work on it.
